But being the miracle man he is, even the great mathematics professor George Saitoti could not have foreseen Kalonzo’s swift sneak to put on the vice captain’s jersey.
Mamboleo
Going by any election logics, Kenya’s vice president and self acclaimed miracle man Kalonzo Musyoka would be a back bencher in the 10th parliament, having come a distant 3rd having brought home less than 10% of the presidential votes.
But being the miracle man he is, even the great mathematics professor George Saitoti could not have foreseen Kalonzo’s swift sneak to put on the vice captain’s jersey.
Kibaki defied the force of gravity by appointing Kalonzo as Vice President. It’s now common knowledge that during his presence at ODM, Kalonzo was a Kibaki project, designed to spoil ODM outright victory. Reliable sources said PNU actually bankrolled Kalonzo’s campaign that saw him spend a stounding 45 million Shillings in less than 4 months.
Immediately after the last votes were cast, it is said that Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, John Michuki, George Saitoti and Uhuru Kenyatta met with President Mwai Kibaki to push ECK Chairman Samuel Kivuitu to announce Kibaki the winner. Kivuitu later admitted that he was put under enormous pressure by Kibaki’s PNU and Musyoka’s ODM-K to announce election results in favor of Kibaki.
But the worst scenario came when Kalonzo was appointed vice president. Here is a man who had earlier on been fired from his ministerial position for viewing opposing views from those of the president being baptized by the same president as a loyal follower. But the honeymoon would soon be over as the bulldozer Kibaki and Musyoka axis were trying to push into oblivion, later walked away with half of the government.
What was Kibaki thinking about? With both Moody Awori and Simeon Nyachae trounced in Western and Nyanza, Kibaki was a bewildered man with nowbody else to look upon with a constitution that forbids the president and vice president coming from the same ethnic group, Kibaki had to look beyond his Mount Kenya mafia.
